Books I've read pt 1

So last year I said I intended to read a lot of books, but what actually happened was I bought a lot of books.

In actual fact I read maybe 2 books last year, and to be honest I'm not even sure if I read them last year or the year before.

So this year I plan on reading one book a month, and writing a short blog about it. In fact, what I'm actually going to do is write a small blog about the media I've consumed that month, and this is the first one.

Yes it's nearly a month behind, and I'm almost guaranteed to be a month behind on next month's now, but I will do my best.
Here we go.

In January I read

The Cololur of Magic

Terry Pratchett

To be honest again, I had started this book months ago and not finished it, so I thought I'd give myself an easy first read and finish it off. That didn't happen and I finished it a week or so into February.

This is the second Terry Pratchett book I've read ('Guards! Guards!' being the first) and I enjoyed it. Perhaps a little more disjointed than 'Guards! Guards!' as the story bounced around, but this could also be the fact I would pick it up once every two weeks and would forget what happened in between.

Overall a nice introduction to some new characters for me and good dance around the disc world. So far Terry Pratchett is 2 for 2 (not including the Hogfather Film/TV Show) and I don't know why I didn't start reading them sooner.

In February I will read

The Catcher in the Rye

J.D. Salinger

Some things have been happening in my personal life which made me think about this book, and made me realise how much time had passed since the last time I read it.

'The Catcher in the Rye', to the best of my recollection, is a story about an adolescent who is trying to find their place in a world where they don't seem to have a purpose. The whole book follows only a few days in their life, but I recall enjoying both the context and the writing style, at least for where I was in my life the last time I read it.

I hope reading it again brings me the same comfort it did originally - I guess we'll find out.
